I’ve started using a new system to fight comment spam. If you see any problems when trying to submit comments on the site, please let me know. Email of course, since you won’t be able to send a comment if you find a bug. mclark at planetmike.com. Thanks.
-> Test. Everything works 😉
I need to find something that works also. Once the spambots find a page, its a battle of David and Goliath. Which plugin are you using?
I’m using a system I wrote. It’s not really a plugin yet. Basically, it’s a renamed form submission URL that is customized for each visitor. If someone later tries to use that URL, they are blocked from visiting the site. I also have a professional Akismet key running, and first time commenters must be approved by me. It works very well.
What are you using again? I use Akismet and it’s been doing great! I as you probably do, prefer quality comments to my site and simply deplore the spam comments!
I have a couple of other blogs that I’ve yet to implement such and find my self removing hundreds of spam comments.
Have you looked into some of the Captcha type of plugins as well?
Akismet is still in my custom system. Captcha is bad, because it makes things difficult for those with visual difficulties, plus can affect page loading times.
